If you have the time and budget, a writing class is great, particularly if you have a teacher who provides helpful criticism and leads the class effectively. When I wrote MY YEAR OF EPIC ROCK, my writing group was incredibly helpful—both because of their feedback and the deadlines that made me accountable so see if you can find a group of writers in your area.
