Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Andrea Pyros I got the idea for MY YEAR OF EPIC ROCK because I have a child with food allergies. Though she was an infant at the time, I thought a lot about how she -- and kids like her -- would feel when they got older and their food allergies made them stand out, particularly during middle school, when pretty much no one wants to stand out. The book I'm working on now is definitely inspired by my own experience of my mother being diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 11.
