The Origin of Species:
Why isn't the full title ever given? It is: On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle For Life.

This was the original title, but the sixth edition (the final one before his death) it has been shortened to the one we use today.
