Do you have to read the entire series of Rizzoli and Isles, or are they standalone novels ?

You'll still be able to follow the plot and understand the characters. The only problem is you can't really stop at just one. :)

I was introduced to Jane Rizzoli and Mara Isles through the TV show on TNT. The books are very different, however, I enjoyed them both very much just as separate entities- almost as if they're written in a parallel universe. In all honesty, I prefer how they're portrayed in the television series but only because the way they're written in the books just isn't what really makes for good TV.(less)
