TL asked Robert Dugoni:

I am enjoying your Tracy Crosswhite series and The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell was life changing. I intend to read it several times. It resonates on a deeply human level. Thank you for the stories. Which specific books or courses on the writing craft do you recommend? And can you talk about the kind of transformation your writing took after studying certain aspects of the craft. Thank you and bless you.

Robert Dugoni I learned a lot from Chris Vogler's book, The Writer's Journey and Sol Stein's book, On Writing. As for craft workshops, look for teachers you identify with and speak your language of writing. Writer's conferences can be a great way to find a writer/teacher who you identify with, who is a strong teacher, and who you understand. I teach a seminar called The Novel Writing Intensive with Steven James. Look for Don Maass, and Chris Vogler. Others have enjoyed Save the Cat, which is also a seminar.
