Edwyna McDonald asked Lucinda Riley:

Dear Lucinda Hi, I am from New Zealand and like everyone that is reading your series of books The Seven Sisters I am absolutely captivated and put under a spell by the stories that you weave and the details and research that has gone into each one. I started the series 3 weeks ago and have nearly finished The Pearl Sister. As you write about well-known people was it necessary to get permission to do this? Edwyna

Lucinda Riley Dear Edwyna,

It's wonderful that you are loving the Seven Sisters series so much, thank you! As I write 'fictionalised' versions of real historical people, it has not been necessary to gain permission. In the case of Grieg, I had the full support of the Grieg museum in Norway, and for the life of Heitor da Silva Costa in Maia's story, his great-granddaughter Bel Noronha provided me with his diaries so I could get better insight into his life. It was an absolute honour to have her input and advice. Each time I write about a historical person, I approach their character with the greatest respect, but I am also mindful of the fact that my books aren't history textbooks -- they are fiction!
