If it's not too sensitive a topic to discuss here, I want to ask, as a fellow woman of color and a reader/writer of sci-fi, how supportive do you feel SFWA, and the SFF community in general, had been during the whole Sad Puppies debacle? I would hope SFWA is not as bad as RWA but maybe I'm being too optimistic? Thank you!

Hi, and thank you for all your lovely books! I'm a writer, and I find that at a certain point a project will come to life and starts generating content on its own. While that feels amazing, I'm not quite sure how to harness that and put it to good use. Do you have any tips or advice that may help with turning the wonderful mess that is the creative flow into something more practically manageable?

When you writing a novel, where do you start from? For instance, in the Inheritance trilogy, did you start by imagining the setting and then figuring out a story you could tell in it? Or did you start with the characters, and then you imagined the necessary setting for their story to be told? Or some other starting point? Or is this whole question too chicken-and-egg-y? Thanks
