Will I need to brush up on my plate tectonics to read this one?! Seriously, your first trilogy was heavily scientific sci/fi. I loved it, but getting into the wholly new world was hard, especially as I let too much time lag between the books. Does this new series demand as much from the reader, and is this a concern to you as the author?

I love how fully fleshed your worlds feel, even the ones in your short stories. How do you start? Thank you for your work. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read so far. Could you say something about your approach to politics, in the worlds you build but also as an author? (I’m always impressed by your attention to power and hierarchy, but also to moments and modes of resistance, so I’m curious if you feel strongly about how much politics to do, for example, or whether the genre lends itself more to certain kinds)
