Love the books and have read all St. Mary's (long, short, and shorter, including the Time Police novel) and recently got my sister hooked on them. I would get random comments from her about what she was reading on What's App at all times of day and night. What do pods look like? I picture the Flintstone's house, but that can't be right. Maybe more like a croft house with a better roof? Thanks, Susan

Hi. I always imagine them as small, flat-roofed shacks. Apparently stone built, although that's just the cosmetic covering that Max is always melting. There aren't any windows because you don't want anyone looking in, and with a door apparently made of wood but not. I always picture something that would be at home anywhere in time - BC all the way up to a modern allotment, perhaps. Hope this answers your question. Jodi.

Having spent time as an administrative assistant I know that you often make the reservations and send the employees off on adventures while you stay at home, hold down the fort and welcome back the troops but you rarely get to go yourself. The only mention that I can recall of an admin going on one of the “days out” was Mrs. Partridge dodo hunting. Will there ever be a day when Rosy Lee goes with Max on a trip?

Hi Jodi, simple question: In the St. Mary's books, why did you go for "an historian" instead of "a historian"? I get it that "h" is a weak consonant, but for other combinations like "a hideous" or "a hindrance", you use "a" (thank goodness my ebook reader has a search function). I'm not an English native speaker (I'm German) but I'm very interested in details like this. Is there a quirky rule that I'm not aware of?
