Hi, Jean! It's good to see you, and thank you for asking. I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't completed the novel I started shortly after completing A Woman Misunderstood. I keep getting sidetracked. I helped my dad trace the family name back to 1390s England, and just finished tracing my mother's family name back to 1600s Germany (records in the village were destroyed by the Thirty Years War, so that was as far as I could get). And I'm still teaching in an MFA program, most recently working with students in the thesis block. Lots of fun stuff I'd love to use as excuses, but I seriously just need to get that novel finished!

Q: Given that writing usually requires, if not comfort, at least a degree of safety, the question is Do fiction writers fear enough? Are they too insulated? Would you be willing to share the kinds of fear that inform or influence your work?

Thank you so much for the story of "Appalachian Justice"! The ending was especially moving. I enjoyed the way you fit all of the pieces of the puzzle together to make a beautiful picture of life in West Virginia coal-mine town.I just finished it and am looking forward the reading the other books in this series. Do you plan on continuing to writing other moving stories?
