Louise asked Daniel Kelly:

When an idea pops into your head for a book, how do you go about developing it?

Daniel Kelly Really sorry for the delay Louise, I hadn't realised this was here.
I am not sure how other authors do it but for me I write down the initial idea, just that, the very basic start point. Usually I think about it for a while without writing anything down as I figure out what question I want to answer myself in the story. That's how I look at everything I write, I am trying to answer my own questions which can be difficult, a reason for everything that happens and how people /characters will react to certain situations. When I work out the questions, I start writing trying to keep the characters actions and reactions as real as I can, and I often have no idea where that will bring the story until it gets there. I know alot of authors plan everything out and have the ending decides before they begin writing, but with the story depending on people, often the end is as much a surprise to me when I get there.
