Goodreads asked R.J. Craddock:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

R.J. Craddock It developed out of my imagining how I would improve popular urban fantasy books. The moral of the series comes from my observations as a christian. I've noticed that a lot of people do Christ like things because they believe they will be rewarded for these good deeds. where as Jesus always did the right thing simply because it was right, he needed no reward. So I wandered "What if you were damned no matter what you did? No matter if you were a good person or a bad person? Would you still be a good person if there was no reward, no blessing?" That question is at the heart of the conflict in my leading ladies tale. No matter what Gwenevere does more misfortune and bad luck greets her at every turn yet something in her forces her to endure even the worst of circumstances and some how come out a stronger better person. I think that's what makes her so likable and her story so relate-able for readers. She's not just a character but a flesh and blood person thrown into realistic situations, who responds with real emotions and deals with real consequences. I throw in the magical element for added drama.
