Araya asked this question about Crave (Crave, #1):
This looks exactly like a ripoff of Twilight, can anyone confirm?
Lionquill It's NOT a ripoff of twilight and I can confirm by my many reasons:

1) LGBTQIA+ representation in the form of the following characters:

It's NOT a ripoff of twilight and I can confirm by my many reasons:

1) LGBTQIA+ representation in the form of the following characters:
-Flint Montgomery [Gay]
-Gwen (the witch) [Lesbian]
-Luca [gay]
-Eden (There are implications) [questioning]
-Jaxon (Even though he was mated to Grace, his true potential mate is a male {I'm not gonna spoil that surprise}) [unrealized bisexual]

2) Grace is not a human [Unlike Bella Cullen]

I won't spoil and say what she is but she isn't a human. She has badass powers and this alone makes a difference. Bella isn't a vampire until the last book in the saga, Breaking Dawn. Up to that point, people are just trying to assassinate her, she's been having mental breakdowns, and the side-characters don't have personalities.Yay. :D

3) Grace isn't useless {don't @ me}

Bella is sort of useless during the WHOLE series. It's only her romance with Edward that is keeping her alive tbh. She's always running from SOMETHING or getting beaten up by SOMEONE (I mean she IS human in a world of vampires I don't blame her) or trying to save SOMETHING.I mean, I was cheering for the Cullen Coven during the standoff in Breaking Dawn but still. You might be complaining that Grace was useless for almost the entirety of the first book, but Bella was useless for, like, TWO THIRDS OF THE SERIES.

4) There's more than what meets the Fang

In Twilight, the only paranormals known are vampires and wolves. But in Crave, it's a whole multiverse of myths and legends!
There are the following abnormal creatures:
-Dragons
-Witches
-Sirens
-Gargoyles
-Mermaids
-Fairies
-Manticores
- And so, SO much MORE paranormals than twilight.

5) Character development is cool as fuck now

The thing about Crave is that Grace is GROWING throughout the whole series. At first it's about her getting over her grief about her parents' deaths. Then it's about figuring out her identity as a paranormal and using her powers, all the while deciding between two boys she loves. She almost gets killed a dozen times but that's kinda the only similarity between Bella and Grace. Grace isn't only trying to sort out her love life, she is also balancing her education while trying to stop a evil monarch from hurting the people she loves.

6) The Mating Bond works differently this time

There are differences between the mating bond (A.K.A imprinting) in Crave and in Twilight:

Crave's mating bond rules:
-You can have more than one mate in your lifetime
-There is a way to break the bond
- If you are attracted to someone else that is the same gender as yourself, the mating bond won't take effect unless that person becomes aware of their sexuality

Twilight's mating bond rules:
-When you imprint on someone, you are there to be anything they need you to be. A teacher, best friend, parental figure, lover, anyone who will take care of you
- When someone imprints on you, they legit will ADORE YOU and protect you with ALL THEIR MIGHT (gee, I wish lol)

Crave is very different in many different ways and you just got to read past Crave and read the sequel, Crush, to see that.(less)
