Kat Stoltz
Kat Stoltz asked April Henry:

I am trying to write my own book but I seem to run into lots of problems. A recurring one is that I can practically finnish the book in three pages. I will start writing and run out of ideas, what happens is so much has already happened but i've only wrote a couple pages! How do I fix/help my situation?

April Henry There's kind of a two part solution.

One is to make what you write longer. New writers often write too fast. Add details like appealing to all the senses, thoughts, actions, dialog.

The second thing is to add more stuff. Ask yourself how you can make things worse, add more problems, make the problem bigger, etc.

Sometimes we get nervous that what we write isn't that good, so we stop.

I really like the book Save the Cat Writes a Novel - see if you can get it from the public library.

Also look at your favorite books and see how they handle things.

No one starts out knowing how to do it all (and that probably applies to everything). You learn how to do things just by doing them.
