Wow .. doesn't anyone like real-life depicted? Do you all just like reading fairytales?? :-o

Will never understand why sex is such a problem for some people.
Megan
Very passionate sex--in my (sometimes) humble opinion it fit in beautifully with the themes of the book as it helped illuminate the difference between rape and healthy sex.
Emily
Chapter 25 was completely inappropriate and unnecessary to include. In no way did it improve the story line. In fact, I believe it deterred from it. I was pretty disappointed in the author's choice to use such descriptive wording and details of immorality along with drug and alcohol abuse. O'Neal, your story was awesome without all of that extra garbage.

There is a fair bit of sex in this book. For me, it’s not that the descriptions were overly graphic but that the whole attitude toward casual sex seemed way too cavalier and careless. If you’re considering this for, say, a teen, I would definitely discourage that. There is zero mention of taking precautions for safe sex, lots of focus on negligent parenting, substance abuse, irresponsible promiscuity. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to my adult children but definitely not to younger folks. Unless you want to use it as a springboard to discussions about how not to run your life...

The book is about two women who are now in their 40s and a look back at their life and growing up and how it contributes to where they are today.
Trials and tribulations. Real life...drugs and sex.

yes, Gabriella, an excessive amount of details in my opinion. There were a lot of unnecessary details to the plot of the story, and many of them are related to sex.
Tracie
Taking into account the lives of the characters, the scenes seemed appropriate. Although the title is about mermaids, the novel depicts the grittiness of real life. Relationships go past kissing, but I didn't find it pornographic in anyway.
Karen
I really like her writing but the sex scenes are over the top raunchy for me in some of her books. Others don't strike me this way. She creates some of the best female characters in this kind of fiction, and they prove themselves to be more resourceful than they know, which is what keeps me reading her books.
Sterling
Yes there are definitely romantic relationships depicted in this book. There are also intimate moments depicted in detail.
Aliza
Yes to both questions.
Linda Starr
Yes, some were raunchy. I don't see the need to be so explicit and I don't care for it. We live in an over sexualized world now. The older generation had more class.
Josefa Wann
There are romantic relationships and some not as romantic. But I didn't find explicit or offensive parts.
Linda Martin
I DNF'ed this book because of the detailed sex scenes. Sex should be private.
Daryl
Thanks everyone. I appreciate your honest reviews. I don't think this book is for me.
Flora Radziunas
Yes to both questions. I’ve read worse. If I found it too raunchy, I would have just skipped it.
