It makes logical sense, right?
Earth is a wonderful, incredible planet. For all our knowledge and exploration, we've yet to find another world anything like it. But its also the only place you can find humans.
If something were to happen to it... well, no more humans. Sagan, as always, puts his comment right on the money. :)
