Amos Cassidy asked Christopher Rice:

In your experience is it difficult to find a literary agent to represent a novel with gay protagonists? We ask because we are about to embark on such a journey and have heard some disturbing stories about how agents prefer not to take such novels on.

Christopher Rice It's difficult to get a literary agent period. It's just difficult right now. I wish I could put it another way. Because I'm you know who's son, I didn't ace the kind of initial challenges most writers face in getting an agent. But I hear more and more young writers being told to self publish and try to get some respectable numbers up before they even consider approaching an agent. I'm not sure if that's the best advice out there, but it's something.
