While not a fictional place per se, I've always been in love with the opening of Out of Africa with Isak Dinesen, and the memoir of Africa, West With The Wind by Beryl Markham. I think I'd like to float in a single engine place low over the flowing flamingo migration below and imagine what it was like to explore such new and extraordinary places.
