When you have trouble with visualization for characters in your books, what do you do?

I actually have a file on my computer of collected character images - faces that I think will make great characters one day. And if the character I have in mind isn't in there, I might go search online for the right face, or the right expression. Another idea if you are having trouble is to find just one detail that makes them stand out from others and always keep that in mind as you write.
