You can read them out of order, no problem. There are a few that refer to earlier characters or adventures, particularly the 2 leading up to a third, Never Go Back. And my personal favorite, Bad Luck and Trouble, has a recurring character, Frances Neagley. But they all stand well on their own.

I think it doesn't matter. As Child says in an interview attached in the book, he avoids the chronology/ageing hero trap by moving back and forth through time. You may enjoy a random sequence, because you will pick up on foreshadowing of other, later plot lines, phrases and titles.

Blue Moon has no pre-existing conditions....enjoy.

I suppose you could there are a few in the series that are directly set after events in the previous books, but Child likes to add back story novels. I personally like to read them in the order the author published them. But that's just me. I agree though @Nick Brett... the earlier books are much better. As much as I've enjoyed them all they do get a bit cliche. Though I will say that #22 and #23 were excellent. Just about to start #24 - Blue Moon!

You CAN read them out of order. I wouldn't, though. While the more recent ones aren't bad, as Nick said, the earlier ones are much better. I think you'll find that you get through them pretty quickly. I think you'll enjoy them all much better if you read them in order.
Nick Brett
Yes you can, but read the earlier ones as they are much, much better.
