One similarity is that both Hamish and Agatha seem to be destined to be single. Is there a reason for this? Another is that both are destined to never be taken as serious detectives. Each has their own nemesis who is a copper? Even their nemeses are similar.

They may get married to someone, but I don’t know yet. The being accused of amateurism and being at the mercy of toadying bullies is a hangover from my reporting days.
