Has there ever been discussion of of a screen adaptation for A Friend of the Earth? I cite it often during discussions of climate change deniers and count it among the most compelling dystopian novels, handled with satire that would transform into a series as engaging as the Handmaids Tale. I'd love to cast it! The time is right!

T. Coraghessan Boyle Thanks for the kind words, Todd. I agree that it would make a great movie or series, but as far as I know no one has bought the rights. Currently, there are ten or so projects of my various books and stories moving forward, but not A Friend of the Earth. Actually, if the universe were to open up and be benign for just a wee moment, I'd like to see the Cohen Brothers run with it. What rich comic material, plus, as you point out, the subject is vitally important to all the species of the earth, especially our own.
