I'd say it's great for teens as there is a lot of food for thought in it, and a lot about the value of empathy. Nothing graphic or too terribly descriptive as far as sex goes, but they don't hide that its a part of life. Also, the "f-word" is used in a few situations (where it was well deserved, IMHO). There's nothing in here a teenager wouldn't already encounter in the normal process of living in the world.

As a teen (16) this was great and very mild compared to a lot of the other books I’ve read, especially violence. It’s not gory in any way, there is an allusion to sex in the way that two people get together for an evening and is later revealed to have conceived a child, but no descriptions at all. Killing is used a lot but there’s actually very little violent actions and blood in the book for a space opera. Most of the time it’s just “Karst shoots and *insert here* dies”
