I don't care if a book is my fav genre, my fav author, gets 5 full stars, I will never ever read a book where the writer chooses to hurt animals. I am a lover of "Living Dead, Apocalyptic (Pre, Post, In The Now), and Dystopia Fiction and before I buy, I research the book to see if they have dogs being hurts in any way....I am older now and my memory is terrible but I remember two books I refused to buy...the first...in the very beginning the main character is saying "why are they killing our dogs" and proceeds to go into detail and it was right after this I started to research the books I buy....You think I am the only one? WRONG!! I am a member of a very large book club and if there is one word uttered about hurting dogs, cats....any animals, we will not read it. So, writers should give this careful consideration. There was one book where the virus/deadly plague was "caused" by dogs....what an idiot....If you are going to spend all your time and energy writing a novel why in the world would you be dumb enough to blame it on any animals? Blame it on Women, Men, Teens, Tweens, the Elderly, the Terrible Two's and yes....Infants. Go for it, I would read them all..But, as the saying goes..."I don't care who gets hurt in the movie as long as nothing happens to the dogs". It is actually a tee shirt. So, The Troop is banned from my book club and we aren't the only club. Cutter would have been better off if he made better choices.

Ephraim wasn’t actually infected. Shelley only made him think he was.
