Is Jonah also Samantha's creation? The literal last lines have Samantha asking Jonah a question while staring into the mud on the ground. The final line is "the mud answered" which seemed to imply either that Jonah was also not "real" or that Samantha had created something else. Elsewhere Jonah finds himself literally compelled to continue writing a long poem and unable to stop.
