In Komarr, there is a scene where Miles pursuades Nikki to leave the bathroom by telling him that he once employed a ten-year-old girl. Was this covered in one of the earlier books? I am wracking my brain and can't seem to remember it, familiar as it sounds.

Nope, that's a throw-away line, on the order of the politician, the lighthouse, and the trained cormorant. (A classic example from the Sherlock Holmes stories.) Not every Dendarii assignment/escapade was covered in the stories, as they ran over some ten years.

Think you have a fan at CBS? Scorpion had an exploding lake, a la Lake Lethal, Pure Genius had a lab working on an artificial womb, and Elementary had an episode about vat meat. I'm confused about the name Mia Maz - is Mia her first name or a title, like miss? Miles calls her milady Maz and she says "just Maz" Is it easier/harder to write from multiple POVs? I find I like the extra takes, tho Memory is a masterpiece

When you are busy writing do you notice a decline in your interest in reading? Or maybe in reading works similar to what you are writing? Perhaps this pertains more to fiction than non-fiction, but I've experienced seasons when a world is actively gestating inside my head and similar stories lose their appeal. Curious to know if others experience something similar. Thank you!

So I was re-reading "Paladin of Souls" this weekend and taken over by a rather horrible speculation. Please tell me that Desdemona's ultimate fate is not to be corrupted into Joen's ancient demon. On the one hand I can't imagine you doing that to Des. But Joen's demon is "dozens of lives" and "centuries" old. Tell me it's not so. Des is too strong to be corrupted like that by now. Right?
