Chrissy asked R.K. Lander:

Hi, i am 85% through book 2 and have a burning question for you. I wont post it on Facebook in case i see spoilers. Anyway i am wondering where and/or what is "The Valley"? The different ways its been mentioned made me think ok its where people go to die somehow?Or where dead people's spirits are?It seems to be a choice to go there?Oh and why dont they stop people becoming deviants to end that problem?

R.K. Lander Hi Chrissy.

OK, Valley. It’s an area, a place that is shrouded in mist, difficult to find unless you are an Ari’ator. It’s not like heaven, but is actually where The Source is located. the Source is a portal of sorts. Elves can cross over into a new life but they don’t die. So Valley is the area where The Source is located.

The problem is that many humans believe that if they could cross into The Source, they would become immortal. This is actually true, but human bodies are not prepared for immortality. They start to rot and the Deviant is born. The job of the Ari’ator is to stop humans from getting too close to the source, avoid them becoming Deviant.

I am now working on a companion handbook which explains this and other aspects of the universe.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the series, and feel free to ask whatever you need to.
