Daddy_o asked Garon Whited:

Why does he never see past the next hour when making decisions? I like the character, but he also makes me so angry. To be so smart and stupid at the same time....Arghhhhh!

Garon Whited He does, sometimes, look at the long term. Most of the time, though, he's focused more on whatever disaster is bothering him right now. In part, it's because he's not used to being immortal. Thinking in the REALLY long-term isn't something that comes naturally to him. Partly it's because he's a bit lazy--if he can fix the immediate problem, job done. But a good portion of it is also a story-based reason. If he consistently thought ahead, predicted the consequences and ramifications, and acted accordingly, most of his (mis)adventures would be considerably less interesting!
