I think inspiration is around us all the time. A snippet on the news, a line in a song, illicitly overhearing someone's conversation, a major event or even a minor incident escalating into a catastrophe. Sometimes there is simply the need to get an idea down on paper before the thought moves on (and I do write on paper first, before I go anywhere near a laptop).
