A Goodreads user asked Brigid Kemmerer:

How do you deal with writer's block?

Brigid Kemmerer I force myself to write 250 words, and I tell myself it's okay if they're terrible or if they don't even fit the story. Usually once I write 250 words, I can convince myself to write more, but if not, that's OK. (Even if you only write 250 words a day, you'll have a book written in less than a year.)

Sometimes, though, "writers block" can mean that we don't know where the story is going, so I'll take out a notepad and sketch out where I want the next five chapters to go. Sometimes "writers block" can mean that we've gone in the wrong direction with a character or plot line, and I need to backtrack and fix it before I can move forward.

The only thing you can't edit is a blank page, though, so if you're stuck, try to write 250 words. The only way out is through.
