Laura The detail about her not knowing how to use the phone suggests that she used the phone, right? To call chase? The only allusion to this is The Firefly poem Tate finds at the end where she essentially says it was a piece of cake to lure him. The tower was a significant spot in their realtionship, so he would understand why she'd want to meet there. He (coward, asshole and rapist) loved her, so he would jump at the chance to meet imo.
Lois Wilson I think Kya called Chase from the hotel and he agreed to meet her. Remember, he still loved her and also angry that she fought back. I think Kya did it one because she was mimicking what she saw in nature and two because of what happened between her parents. Chase likely was thinking about how he would enjoy punishing her sexually so he eagerly agreed to meet. The disguises for the bus ride are a bit of a stretch. Given Kya's ability to hide, I think she could've been undetected without them.

Liza I think this ties into the passage about how time is a man-made concept, and time moves differently in the mountains than it does at the coast, etc. Not that time *literally* moves at a different pace, like it's some sort of wormhole, but it accounts for the way she was able to carry out her plan despite the exact timing it would require.
Kim I'm thinking after she called him and told him to meet her at the fire tower, she waited for him at the top, and when he arrived, she yelled down to him to come up and she left that grate open so he would fall?
Charlene Couvillon This was my question, too. I just don’t see her as someone who could/ would take the disguises with her if you buy the prosecutors story. I can see her pushing him as an act of self preservation, but the how still bothers me.

Diana Jones I am so relieved to know that other people were bothered by this. She was not a killer, so it had to be self-defense, plus she had said "i'll kill you!" when he attacked her before, so why would he allow himself to be lured? This hole spoil;ed an otherwise amazing novel.
Linda Goodwin I listened to the audibook, as well. There was no explanation of how Chase and Kya met at the fire tower. I wondered the same thing throughout the end of the story.
