Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Stu Lloyd As of this writing 'my most recent' book is another volume (#5) of Hardship Posting - True Tales of Expat Misadventure in Asia.

When I was leaving Singapore in 1998 a bunch of us were enjoying some cold Tiger Beers at a golf course one evening, and the tales were growing taller by the glass. Someone said 'Someone should write these down so they're not lost to the ether.'

I said: 'I'll do it.'

The next morning it was still a good idea, and, as I was moving on from my career as a Mad Man writer/ creative director I was setting out to be just one man and a typewriter versus the world.

So I started compiling all the funny ex pat stories from my friends and outer circles, and the Hardship Posting books series was born. 5 volumes and 69,000 copies later, here we still are ...
