Stu Lloyd As of this writing 'my most recent' book is another volume (#5) of Hardship Posting - True Tales of Expat Misadventure in Asia.

When I was leaving Singapore in 1998 a bunch of us were enjoying some cold Tiger Beers at a golf course one evening, and the tales were growing taller by the glass. Someone said 'Someone should write these down so they're not lost to the ether.'

I said: 'I'll do it.'

The next morning it was still a good idea, and, as I was moving on from my career as a Mad Man writer/ creative director I was setting out to be just one man and a typewriter versus the world.

So I started compiling all the funny ex pat stories from my friends and outer circles, and the Hardship Posting books series was born. 5 volumes and 69,000 copies later, here we still are ...
Stu Lloyd Curiosity burning a hole in my head is what gets me out of bed most days. I can't rest till I've answered that question. Or purged that story.

It's the anticipation of knowing how good I'll feel once the story is told that keeps me going through the endless boxes of research, searching for the elusive nugget, piecing the puzzle together, and making the story sit cohesively together as a satisfying whole.

On second thoughts: perhaps I should have just gone straight into the police force as a detective. I'm sure the hours and pay are better!
Stu Lloyd Thinking about what to write next and the endless dreaming and scheming that goes with it. Or possibly great feedback from readers and reviewers. That keeps me going. The writing part itself is great only because I get to satisfy my curiosity and share that with others like you.
Stu Lloyd Many books, in approximately this order:

Bleeding Slaughterhouse. The definitive account of the outrageous Alexandra Hospital Massacre, Singapore 1942.

BIG T THINKING: the creative thinking style that's rocking the New Economy.

Tales from the Tiger's Den: Oral History from Foreigners in the Far East 1920's to present.
Stu Lloyd Unfortunately for my readers, I never got writer's block! ;)
