Diana Meredith
Diana Meredith asked Jenycka Wolfe:

I like the Wildlanders series so far, but I find the accents of the warriors to be a little off. I think they're supposed to sound Scottish but they don't quite make it there. What's up with that?

Jenycka Wolfe Good eye! The accents aren't Scottish - they're based on those found in Newfoundland outports. They make very little sense half the time, but they're so bloody beautiful to listen to, it really doesn't matter. And you literally go ten kilometers down the road and the accent changes. It's a very unique and interesting place. If you want to get a feel for what it actually sounds like, try the movie "The Grand Seduction" or the CBC series "Republic of Doyle." (I claim no affiliation with either I just like the accents because they remind me of my time spent in that area).
