Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jenycka Wolfe I've always been drawn to arranged/forced marriage stories, which is funny, because in real life I'm not exactly one who enjoys long-term relationships. So I wanted to write an erotic story, and I wanted to work with that trope. It's been done a lot of different ways, so I looked for something new and fresh, that isn't all over the market right now, and came up with menage set in a high-fantasy world. I've toyed with the idea of writing an epic fantasy series for years, so it seemed like a natural fit. As far as specific themes, I'm drawing on my background in feminist studies (the maiden/mother/crone archetype is quite prominent), and I'm hoping to get a little more into some classics. I don't intend to create some sort of literary opus here that's going to be read for generations; I just want to put together a fun, enjoyable erotic read that people can lose themselves into and care about the characters and believe in the world. And, possibly, need a cigarette after a few of the scenes.
