Ronda Smith-stoddard asked Karen White:

I read one of your novels for the first time not long ago. It was The Sound Of Glass. I was blown away by your ability to draw readers in. I cried thru out The book. I now am one of your biggest fans. Thank you!!! My question is, when writing a story do you get attached to your characters as we do ? And also do you feel sad and perhaps lonely when you finish the book?

Karen White Dear Rhonda—

Thanks you so much—I’m thrilled you’ve discovered my books!

I call myself a “method writer”. :-). Like in method acting where the actors “become” the characters they’re portraying, I feel the same with each point-of-view-character I create. I do feel very attached as I’m writing, but as soon as I reach the end, I look forward to saying good bye because I’m so mentally exhausted by that point! I also need a break before I can start the next book because of the mental fatigue—but that doesn’t stop me from doing it all over again. 😊
