yes. it does have a sad ending. but please, please read it anyway. I loved it, even though the ending was sad, but still satisfying. I would not turn this one away, especially if you love wonderland.

This is a prequel so you know that the Queen of Hearts is heartless, as the title suggests.
Desirae Murray
Although we have a tragedy, Catherine and Jest became lovers but their romance sacrificed everything they held dear. Her: friends, parents, and the King turned her boyfriend into a criminal and in anger she lashes out to the world. When Peter beheaded Jest, it was the final nail in the coffin; for trading her heart for revenge, justice is meaningless in the court. The King becomes the figure-head, while the Queen brings bloodshed; a talented baker turns into a monarch because no one will listen. Catherine has dreams but they were stifled under social climbing parents having high expectations for themselves; sad, but in reading this novel you'll see why the Queen acts this way in Wonderland.
