Goodreads asked Robert Ullrich:

How do you get inspired to write?

Robert Ullrich For poetry - it could be anything. A thought, a picture, a view, a word overheard, people observed, anything in nature, a memory or a hope of the future.
For my fiction, my inspiration is simple. I write because I love it. I'm never going to be rich or famous and I don't care. My life plays out in my fiction, at least a lot of it. Many of the scenarios I write about have their roots deeply embedded in my past experiences. Sure, I take literary license with them, but there is truth in my fiction. There always will be, even in Memoirs of the Not-So Grim Reaper. There's probably more of my personal views in that story than anything I will ever write. It was the most fun I've had to date writing. I even made someone snort laugh coffee while she was reading it. I can't aspire for a better review for my first attempt at supernatural humor. Oh, and there's a message woven through the laughs that I've been told packs a hell of a punch. Perfect.
