Goodreads asked J.R. Incer:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

J.R. Incer I have coached many writers how to overcome writer's block easily. Have you ever encountered someone dealing with writer's block? If you have, it probably became very obvious to you that the harder the person tried to think and come up with an original idea the harder he or she struggled; and if the person is persistent on trying to think creatively his/her mind will eventually go blank, this is often referred as the blank page syndrome.

Creative writing, painting, dancing, singing, or any other activity that concerns imagination and originality for that matter is a subconscious process. Therefore, when it comes to expressing ourselves creatively and to feel inspired, our job is to relax our intellectual mind to allow vision and innovation to flow to a conscious level where we can capture the meaning and essence of it.

These are some of the tools that I share with my clients that are dealing with writer's block: Meditation, self-hypnosis, long quiet walks in the park or at the beach, freestyle writing, and listening to your favorite music in the dark.
