Sara asked Lois Lowry:

What book that you read in your early days of literature do you most attribute to your success as an author? Also, which of the characters that you write about really reflects who you are? Finally, if you were in this community what assignment do you think you would receive?

Lois Lowry As a child: THE YEARLING by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings had a profound effect on me.

I don't think any single fictional character of mine completely reflects me. Many, particularly female characters, have some traits that are mine as well.
