In The Last Flag Flying why did you change the names of the three main characters and have them in the Marines instead of the Navy ?

You're referring to the movie adaptation, Sharon. Often in book to movie adaptations major changes are required for any number of reasons. In this case the novel was a sequel to my first novel, "The Last Detail," and the filmmakers could not put together the original cast. Rather than recast, we decided to keep everything we could from the book but change the names, the service, and the shared experience from the past that they have not been able to put behind them.

Your book, "I'm Sad About My Dick," an outrageous title, is described as part memoir; it is a memoir, right? I mean as much as any memoir is also somewhat fictional, that is, anytime I have written about an experience I have had, there is always some gray areas that I had to guess about what happened, however I tried to recount what I lived, as much as possible. An interesting title, Darryl.
