Ok so spoiler alert: At the end of the book when Catherine gives away her heart, it describes how she was "unburdened by love or dreams or the pain of a broken heart." Does that mean she doesn't love Jest anymore since she has no heart? If she no longer loves Jest, why is she still so angry at Peter? Isn't the whole reason she wanted revenge because he killed the man she loved?

Without her heart, all that was left was rage and revenge brewing inside of her for what happened to Jest. She still loves him, but after he died, so did her heart.

She was able to make her decision (to execute Peter Peter) based on the fact that all she had left was rage towards him, and was able to do so (albeit biased) without the emotion and passion that she had originally. (less)
