Goodreads asked David M. Salkin:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

David M. Salkin The last release was BATTLE SCARS. I belong to two veterans groups, the Veterans Community Alliance, and the Philip A Reynolds Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Working with wounded warriors, and veterans in need (and their families), I've met so many amazing people.
Unlike my typical thrillers, BATTLE SCARS was written to honor our American heroes, and bring home the personal costs of war.
It's a novella, which isn't "commercial". It was actually originally written as a screenplay, but so far, no luck in getting it produced. So... as a novella, I decided to self-publish it to get the word out.
The response from the military community and the folks who have written reviews has been both rewarding and humbling. I think my readers "get it"... and maybe now they look at our veterans with a little more respect and understanding.
