Courtney asked Laurie Devore:

Nell is one of the best female protagonists I've ever read--she is ambitious and unapologetic. What was your favorite--or one of them--Nell moment to write, the one that fully embodied everything you were trying to say with her character?

Laurie Devore TY Courts!

I looooove Nell so it's hard to pick a favorite moment. Between Nell and Jackson, I really like the *spoiler* first scene by the lake because it's when Nell realizes how much power she has in their relationship and the first time she feels truly in control between them (I love that).

I also really like a conversation she has later with Lia where she asserts that she should be allowed to go after what she wants, without judgement from her family or friends. There's a lot of complicated dynamics in exploring what it means to be a girl there, I think.
