Well, I think that her mom knows. She is just doing what the doctor told her to do. Giving Cadence the time she needs to figure out the truth by herself, and the thing about the doughnut shop.. I don't know for sure, but maybe it was Cadence's subconscious trying to make her remember, giving her clues to what really happened. Like helping her figure things out.
