I have a hard time trusting the reviews, because the booktubers gives the book great reviews, whereas the YouTube watchers give the book bad review. Feel like the BookTubers are lying just to keep their friend... :( Am I the only one?

Alanna I don't think reviews from their friends are the most reliable (though I think if some of them really hated it, they would maybe just not review it at all because given Sasha's online following, it's not like her or Lindsay need the publicity from their friends)... But, the negative reviews aren't really unbiased either.

A lot of people hate on the book because they view it as being in the same vein as a celebrity book (i.e. where someone gets a book deal because of their following, not because of their talent as a writer), or like she didn't "earn" her book deal or success as an author.

I think some are hating on it because of the editor too (I *think* it's the same editor that edited The Black Witch).

It's probably best just to read the book if it sounds interesting to you, pass on it if it doesn't, then you can decide for yourself.
Samantha Reid I do think there's an element of their friend giving a good review. There's a sense of togetherness because the author is part of the BookTube community and so are the people reviewing it. They don't want to give the book an awful or negative review because, for a lot of people on BookTube, writing and publishing their own book is their dream too.

I would say trust reviews from BookTubers who you trust. That's what I tend to do with BookTuber reccomendations in general. One of my favourite booktubers gave the book an extremely negative review, so I'm skipping out on the book to be safe.
Tecla I don't trust their reviews if there friends with them.
Paige Book reviewing is one of those things that can't be accurately reviewed because everyone has their own preference. Like when I review an item I got from Amazon I review on how well made it is and how useful it is and, the most important thing, if it actually works. But books are totally different because everyone has a different opinion and preference on what they like and stuff. I can see why the book has mixed reviews, the concept behind it was intriguing, but for me it was bad because I looked at the book critically.
Alex's Reads & Reviews I know plenty of booktubers who reviewed this novel harshly, even giving it one-stars, some tubers actually enjoyed the book and gave it a higher rating, but I very much believe all ratings and reviews were honest, especially by the booktubers.
Angie I wouldn't necessarily say that the BookTubers are lying – I mean from the reviews I've read, they've been constructive and positive, but not positive in a sense that they say this book is "perfect". They still mentioned some things that could have been better. I've also seen reviews from youtube watchers or non-youtubers who've also rated the book well, and some who didn't like it all.

Agreeing with Samantha though, that it's good to trust reviews from Booktubers you trust. :)

As well, I've learned that while it's helpful to look at reviews, at the end of the day it's your own reading experience that also informs whether or not you really enjoyed a book. I've read books rated poorly, but in my own experience have enjoyed them. I've also picked up books rated highly by many people, but found it wasn't for me. In the case of Zenith, I'm giving it a go. You never know.

Also, I completely understand any concern about buying a book and not enjoying it and feeling as if money was wasted on it – perhaps find an excerpt or a copy at the library to see if you enjoy it? I now mostly buy books that I know I love and will reread, after borrowing them from the library.

Kyle No, I gave this book a favourable review and I'm not a booktuber. I really enjoyed this book.
Asta I feel the same way and i don't know if i want to read it. Some of the things i have heard don't sound so good.
Matthew Cole No, you are not the only one. However, some booktubers have bought the book to support someone from their community, and wanted to like it, but in the end gave it an honest review, which wasn't good. These reviewers were able to separate their like and respect for Sasha as a booktuber and that of her writing and book. These booktubers maintained their dignity and did not sell out. The ones that gave it 5 star reviews are selling you a shit sandwich and know it.
Natalia Lol 😂😂 I highly doubt it. That would be exteremly unprofessional.
Carri_1111 I feel like this can be the case. One of the Youtubers I trust rated it and was pretty harsh, which I enjoy. He included actual parts from the books to support why he didn't like it, etc. All I had to do was watch his video to know I did not like it, nor wanted to read it.
