Susan asked this question about Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2):
This is ridiculous that fans have to wait an entire year to read the second book. I love Nora Roberts but frankly I think I will stop reading her books. This is not the first time I have experienced the long wait with her series. Is there a logical reason for this?

Most series take about a year between publications of each novel. Between marketing and promoting of the first book, the year long wait between novels is to allow all readers time to buy, read and fall in love with the first book. Not to mention the time it takes to mass produce a book, from writing to editing to printing to binding. They have to get the cover together and the marketing materials. They have to spend time marketing and promoting the book, it has to fit into a production and promotion schedule. Without promotion the book doesn't make money and if the book doesn't make money there's no reason for the publisher to produce it, it becomes a burden and an expense that the publisher can't sustain.

Producing books isn't an instantaneous thing, especially when Nora Roberts is producing several novels each year.

Most 'fans' understand that books take time to write and produce. And most people understand that this is the case with all series, regardless of the author. If you love Nora Roberts and you're so petulant as make threats to quit reading if you don't get what you want when you want it, then perhaps don't start a series until all the novels in the series have been written and published are available to purchase.(less)
