Susan asked this question about Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2):
This is ridiculous that fans have to wait an entire year to read the second book. I love Nora Roberts but frankly I think I will stop reading her books. This is not the first time I have experienced the long wait with her series. Is there a logical reason for this?

Nora Roberts is an unusually fast and prolific writer, so she has sometimes been able to release all three books of a trilogy in around 18 months. That has conditioned some of her readers to expect her to churn out books quickly. But that is NOT the norm for books of this length and calibre (unless a series was already complete or nearly complete when the author signed the contract.) Most authors take at least a year to write the next book in a series like this, and many authors need more time more than that. (Just ask fans of Diana Gabaldon, George R.R. Martin, or Patrick Rothfuss!) While it's true that there are other romance writers who can manage three or four books a year, those books are usually much shorter than the books in Roberts's "One" series, and the authors rarely have to do the amount of worldbuilding required by a series like this. This kind of worldbuilding takes time, to make sure it's consistent and makes internal sense... and that's in addition to the actual writing time required. So please let's give the woman a little breathing space? (less)
