Sean Mcmahon Yep, the science and logic were dreadful. If we were to follow the same logic as appeared in the end, there would be hundreds on jason2's hanging around Jason1's house before Jason1 even got back. It's not clear what constitutes a decision...

Flighty_Z I'd say there are 100,000 Danielas to go home to, but Jason1 was very specific about which version of his Daniela he wanted back. There were instances he was close to "home", but something was off. Perhaps some of these were variations of the Daniela "red or white" choice based worlds, and obviously there were many that weren't explored, but for me Jason1 was exact enough about the door he wanted to open? Maybe a bit idealistic but it worked for me !

Damian Another way of putting it:

Jason's 'original' world was World A. The first decision his wife made - red wine or white wine - made World AA and World AB. The next decision - gym or cycle - World AA would create World AAA and World AAB. The same gym/cycle decision in World AB creates World ABA and World ABB.

We already have worlds AAA, AAB, ABA and ABB. Which one did the end of the story take place in? Why didn't the other Jasons spread themselves out among all of them?
Sarah Schell I like how he ends recursion and dark matter with a "and then....." kind of ending.
Síofra Nic Liam So what I kept thinking is how does he know its home? Ie what if Jason 2 had struck and kidnapped him even 2 seconds later, or on his way to the bar etc. Already there's lots of different Danielas he could get back to and not notice the difference.
Agree there was not enough explanation on decision making = creating another world
Arvind Interesting question but not really a plot hole. I explain the science, premise and plot here: https://www.starvind.com/bookreviews/...

Quick answer to your question:
Yes, there's near infinite splits occurring on both sides but it is possible for there to be some matches/overlaps. Analogy: near equal no. of single men and women but some women/men have more suitors. ha ha.
