Yes after episode 1 very much a different story. For example in the book Anne is unjustly accused of losing a broach and nearly unfairly punished but there is no suggestion she will be sent away for it. The Netflix series made a big plot line of the Cuthberts trying to get her back because her innocence is only established after she has already been sent back to the orphanage. There many other differences and plot lines in the Nextflix show nothing to do with the book but it would take to long to list everything

It differs greatly. Where Anne of Green Gables is funny and lighthearted, while also being heartfelt and sad at times and it makes you care so much about the characters, Anne With An E is melodramatic, devoid of humor or heart, not true to the books except for the concept, and it takes itself way too seriously. And everyone hates Anne for some reason. In the book, all the girls like her, but in the Netflix series it's like she is constantly trying to get them to like her. It's just another thing to be dramatic about I guess. Why can't she just have friends, Netflix series?!
